Valuation of the environmental benefits induced by a constructed wetland

Under the Water Framework Directive, France needs to work harder reduce water pollution and has been recommended a more frequent recourse ecological restoration. Constructed wetlands are particularly interesting as they simultaneously improve quality, contribute flood protection promote biodiversity. In this perspective, researchers of Lyonnaise des Eaux developed concept “Libellule” Zone that aimed at creating biodiversity area facilitates removal residual micro pollutants from wastewater before it is released into wild. These actions clearly beneficial environment. Unfortunately, value remains difficult estimate even today which can constitute significant obstacle both development type action their durability. Our aim use “adapted” Habitat Evaluation Procedure (HEPa) better these actions. The HEPa bases evaluation environmental costs benefits directly on impact carried out. main result method, initially assess costs, be useful method evaluate stemming creation an artificial wetland.
